DNA, also known as the blueprint of one’s life, is far more than just ordinary instructions that your body obeys. DNA serves a vital component in aiding and protecting your body against any and all forms of disease. Every cell in the human body requires genetic material to conduct normal functions ranging from protein synthesis, to repair damage, to harmful threats.

More than just these mere functions, DNA’s hidden talent lies in fighting and working against all potential disease that lies within the immune system. Within our bodies, our genes stay in charge of controlling immune cells which have the main function of destroying pathogens like bacteria and viruses. Having genetic variations allows our immune system to detect a wide array of threats, aiding the body to adapt to new infections. When the operations of our DNA work correctly, the production of the antibodies and proteins defend the body effectively.

With new discoveries in medicine being revealed about the power of DNA, we are able to learn more about genetic mutation and identify causes for more complex conditions such as cancer, heart disease, and even some inherited diseases. Learning more about the human body has enabled for more specific solutions such as even attacking only diseased cells while leaving the healthy ones unaffected. Additionally, new discoveries such as gene therapy have allowed us to fix faulty genes within our body, enabling new cures.

As research continues in this field, we discover more and more about the complexities of the human body. With new technologies and inventions being made in genetic testing, we hope to offer more reliable and life altering solutions in the world of medicine.
